Rainbow Health Network

The Training for Change project is designed to help trainers work from an intersectional framework when training health and social service providers about sexual and gender diversity. Like everyone else, LGBT people’s identities are made up of intersections - sex, class, ability, race, and many more. This project encourages an approach that sees people as a whole, encompassing more than just their sexual orientation and gender identity.

Training for Change: An Integrated Anti-Oppression Framework is a summation of various discussions among social justice trainers, activists and community educators, hosted by the Rainbow Health Network and Springtide Resources. The booklet highlights the barriers, challenges and questions we have of ourselves and each other, and is a contribution to continuing dialogue.Written by Margaret Alexander and Fran Odette.

Training for Change: Practical Tools for Intersectional Workshops is a Facilitators’ Guide to two workshops, built on the approach of the Framework. Power, Privilege and Identity Politics encourages service providers to look at how common assumptions and stereotypes, as well as social institutions, create barriers for different groups of people. Queering Space examines our workplaces and institutions, challenging us to ask who gets left out, and how we can create strategies for change. Written by Deidre Walton.
